Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, February 4

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, February 4, 2021:

A pleasant break in the weather is ahead for today as high pressure passes through.

There are a few lake effect clouds scattered about this morning. A stray flurry cannot be ruled out, but this would be the exception, not the rule.

Sunshine will increase through the morning and skies will be mostly clear this afternoon. Some new thin clouds high in the atmosphere will work in tonight.

Northwest winds this morning will decrease in speed before going calm this afternoon. The wind will turn around to the southeast, then south this evening, increasing to 5-10 mph.

Temperatures should climb to the low or even mid 30s thanks to the sunshine and loss of the northwest wind. Tonight, temperatures will fall to around 20 initially, but then rise back to near 30 by dawn Friday.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Morning snow. Accumulations of 1-2 inches. A few more snow showers late. Morning lows around 30. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds. Maybe a stray flurry. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Sunday: A little light snow. Morning lows in the upper 0s. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
