McGraw Man Arrested for Stealing Natural Gas

On March 12th 2021, Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office investigated a complaint filed by New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG).

The complainant responded to the Sheriff’s Office and made a complaint that the Defendant had made unapproved modifications to meters, piping, and other property owned by NYSEG without the permission of the Corporation. The Defendant had been receiving natural gas from NYSEG since 2018 without paying for the service.

Based off the investigation from this Office, with assistance from NYSEG, it was found that the Defendant had damaged, removed, or modified multiple attempts to prevent his continued use of the natural gas service without payment.

An Arrest Warrant was issued for the Defendant and he was arrested on March 28th 2021 after a traffic stop by the Sheriff’s Office.  Defendant was arraigned at Central Arraignment on March 29th 2021 at 12:05 AM; he is scheduled for his next appearance in the Town of Cortlandville Court on March 31st 2021 at 11:30 AM.
