Dual Meet Recap: Homer Varsity Track & Field vs. Mexico

The Homer Varsity Track & Field team hit the road to compete in a dual meet against Mexico Wednesday evening. The Boy’s team lost 48-75 while the Girl’s team won 65-54. 

Here are some highlights of Wednesday’s meet:

Homer Boys

  • Gabe O’Donnell won the 110 meter high hurdles and the high jump. He also finished third in the 200 meter dash.
  • Cooper VanDee won the 400 meter dash and came in second in the discus.
  • Tommy Mahunik won the 800 meter race and was second in the 400 meter dash.
  • Jonah Campos won the shot put and came in third in the 800 meter race.
  • Tommy Mahunik, Cooper VanDee, Gabe O’Donnell, and Gabe Austin won the 4 x 400 meter relay.
  • David Morse finished second in the 100 meter and the 200 meter dash.
  • Anderson Lowell placed second in the 1,600 meter race with a great last lap surge.
  • Andrew Lynch finished third in the discus.

Homer Girls

  • Alyssa Swayze won the 1,500 meter and the 3,000 meter race.
  • Jane Gugerty won the triple jump and placed second in the 100 meter hurdles.
  • Emma Anderson won the 400 hurdles.
  • Camdyn Cole won the 100 meter dash.
  • Alyssa Swayze, Becky Jones, Brianna Cash, and Emma Anderson won the 4 x 800 meter relay.
  • Eddie Russo, Julie McGory, Jane Gugerty, and Camdyn Cole won the 4 x 100 meter relay.
  • Camdyn Cole, Becky Jones, Jane Gugerty, and Emma Anderson won the 4 x 400 meter relay .
  • Hannah McMasters placed second in the shot put and discus events.
  • Eddie Russo placed second in the triple jump and the 200 meter dash. She also came in third in the 100 meter dash.
  • Brianna Cash finished second in the 400 meter dash.
  • Becky Jones finished second in the 800 meter race.
  • Taylor Chisholm placed third in the 100 meter Hurdles and the 200 meter dash.
  • Morgan Robideau placed third in the triple jump.

The Homer Trojans will host CBA (Christian Brothers Academy) for a dual meet next Wednesday, May 5th.
