Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, January 29, 2022:

A powerful coastal storm will bring clouds and gusty winds to the area today, but snow will stay far to the east.

Winds will increase this morning after sunrise, building until coming to a peak during the early and mid afternoon hours.

Wind gusts this morning will go as high as 30 mph and this afternoon as high as 40 mph. These winds will come from the northwest.

With plenty of cold air, wind chills will be hazardous, and a Wind Chill Advisory is in place. Wind chills this morning could be as low as -25, and this afternoon as low as -15.

Daytime high temperatures will only make it into the mid and perhaps upper single digits.

Much of the day will be overcast though some sun may filter through in the afternoon. Tonight, skies will turn mostly clear. Winds will not be a strong but will still be steady enough to keep it from getting too frigid.

Look for nighttime temperatures to hover near zero degrees.

Wednesday: Snow possible, but still uncertain. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.
