Cortland County High School Sports Recaps: Boys & Girls Basketball (February 11th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Friday’s events:

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Stockbridge Valley 

The Cincinnatus Lions defeated Stockbridge Valley 55-38 and improved their overall record to 14-1. Cincinnatus has been ranked #7 in the state for Class D since February 8th. 

The Lions were led by Kooper Vosburg (24 points), Scott Schuyler (11 points), and Cason Stafford (10 points). 

Stockbridge Valley was led by Ethan Smith (7 points) and Charlie Cross (7 points). 

Up next, Cincinnatus is scheduled to take on DeRuyter on the road this upcoming Monday (February 14th) at 7pm.  

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cortland vs. East Syracuse Minoa 

The Cortland Purple Tigers beat East Syracuse Minoa 55-51 Friday night. With this win, Cortland now has an overall record of 10-9. 

The Purple Tigers were led by Max Gambitta (17 points), Carter Baum (17 points), and Tyler Blake (12 points). 

East Syracuse Minoa was led by Dillon Abreu (15 points), Cole Thomas (12 points), and Aiden Betts (11 points). 

Cortland’s next game is scheduled to be played on the road against Central Square on Monday (February 14th) at 6:45pm. 

Varsity Boys Basketball: Homer vs. Skaneateles

The Homer Trojans lost a tough game to Skaneateles with a score of 49-61. 

With this loss, the Trojans record has fallen to 6-12. 

The Trojans were led by Wyatt Wilbur (13 points) and Evan Butts (13 points). 

Skaneateles was led by Colin Gaglione (14 points) and Ethan Hunt (13 points). 

Up next, Homer will play against Mexico on the road this upcoming Tuesday (February 15th) at 6:30pm.  

Varsity Boys Basketball: Marathon vs. Trumansburg

The Marathon Olympians boys basketball team defeated Trumansburg in double overtime with a score of 64-55. With this win, the Olympians now hold a 5-12 record. 

Marathon was led by Conor Holland (38 points) and Braeden Morrison (9 points).

Trumansburg was led by Lucas Taves (13 points), Austin Chaney (12 points), and Bradley Addicott (11 points).  

Up next, Marathon will play on the road against Oneonta today (February 12th) at 2pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Marathon vs. Trumansburg

The Marathon Lady Olympians celebrated senior night by defeating Trumansburg 48-24.

Up next, Lady Olympians are scheduled to host Thomas A Edison on Thursday (February 17th) at 6pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Cortland vs. East Syracuse Minoa 

The Cortland Lady Tigers beat East Syracuse Minoa 43-19 and improved their overall record to 13-6. 

Cortland was led by Mallory Turner (12 points) and Kirsten Merritt (9 points). 

East Syracuse Minoa was led by Aniyah Jones (12 points) and Isabelle Chavoustie (4 points). 

Cortland’s next game will be played at home against Homer for a Cortland County rivalry game on Tuesday (February 15th) at 6:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Seton Catholic Central

The Homer Lady Trojans defeated Seton Catholic Central 53-51 Friday night. 

With this win, the Lady Trojans improved their overall record to 15-3. 

Homer has been ranked #17 in the state for Class B since February 8th.

Up next, Homer will hit the road to take on Henninger on Monday (February 14th) at 6:30pm.
