Homer town supervisor Fred Forbes led a quick walkthrough and discussion of the senior center in the lower level of town hall on Thursday.

Town of Homer officials and the village of Homer police department are currently engaged in discussions to relocate the police department to town hall. The walkthrough included town and village of Homer officials, along with senior center representatives and village police chief Bob Pitman.

Forbes gave officials and representatives an idea of what the lower level would look like if it included the senior center and the village police department. He added that there is enough space for both entities “to co-exist.”

Forbes noted there isn’t a timetable for the process of moving the village police department to town hall.

“This isn’t something that’s going to happen in three months. It’ll take some time,” Forbes said. He added town officials will reach out to an architect to develop a rendering of what the lower level of town hall would look like if the senior center and village police department were part of it.
