Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, April 1, 2022:

Low pressure to the north will force cold air back into the region today along with gusty winds and rain and snow showers.

Precipitation will be possible throughout the day. In fact, much of the day will have precipitation falling.

Precipitation type will be tricky and will vary from time to time and place to place. As a baseline, snow should be expected, with rain mixing in or taking over at times. This is most likely from the mid-morning to early afternoon hours.

It will be during that time that temperatures will rise a couple degrees to a high in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. From there, temperatures will lose a few degrees during the afternoon.

The snow that falls during the day will mostly stick to some grassy and elevated surfaces. Some rural roads in higher elevations could see brief periods of some snow sticking.

West-northwest winds will blow at around 10 mph this morning but will increase to around 15 mph during the afternoon. Gusts of 35-40 mph will become frequent during the afternoon as well.

Snow showers will continue into the early evening but should wind down and come to an end before too long. As an area of high pressure builds in, temperatures will fall back into the mid 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Morning sun, afternoon clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Sunday: Cloudy with rain showers possible. Maybe some early snow mixing in. Morning lows in the low 30s.  Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Monday: Clouds and some sun. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
