Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, April 10, 2022:

It will be another breezy, chilly Sunday as the persistent low pressure that has been influencing our weather for days finally begins to pull away.

High pressure extending from Florida to the Upper Great Lakes will nose the large, slow moving low further to the east today. The two opposite pressure systems butting up against each other will lead to an increase in wind speeds.

With the low to the northeast and high to the southeast, winds overhead today will come in from the northwest between the systems. Wind speeds will increase through the morning, reaching around 15 mph during the afternoon. Peak wind gusts will be in the 30-40 mph range.

The persistent northwest winds will keep temperatures chilly. Afternoon highs will struggle to reach 40. Some areas will not even be able to do that.

Caught up in the northwesterly flow will be some moisture that will lead to scattered snow showers. The morning hours will have a higher chance for on and off snow. Accumulations should be limited to a light coating in some areas.

The snow showers will taper off in the afternoon as the high pressure increases its influence. Skies will likely remain mostly cloudy until after sunset, when skies will turn mostly clear.

Evening temperatures will steadily fall through the 30s with overnight lows down into the mid 20s.

Monday: More clouds than sun. A few afternoon showers possible. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Tuesday: A few early showers possible. Then, increasing sun. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. A few showers or thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. A few afternoon pop-up showers or thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
