Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, May 17, 2022:

The weather today will be quite different than what we have become accustomed to.

Chilly air will build in behind the cold front that moved through the area yesterday. Blustery northwest winds will blow throughout the day with speeds around 15 mph and gusts of just over 35 mph.

These cool northwest winds will help keep skies cloudy much of the day. Breaks of sun are likely here and there, though, especially early on and late in the day.

A few stray showers may bubble up this afternoon. Any rain that falls should be brief and light, and most areas will probably stay dry.

This will all add up to highs in only the mid and upper 50s, which is about ten degrees below average for mid May.

Tonight, skies will gradually clear and winds will lessen. It will be a chilly night as well, with evening temperatures falling through the 40s and overnight lows around 40 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Thursday: Scattered showers. Some breaks of sun. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Partly cloudy. Maybe a stray shower. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Hot. Maybe some late showers or storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.
