Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, May 26, 2022:

Like the rest of the week so far, today will be dry with a mixture of sunshine and cloudier periods.

Low pressure over the middle of the country is trying to dislodge high pressure just east of New England. Our area is stuck in the middle of this atmospheric tug-of-war.

In addition to periods of clouds, breezy south winds will develop today. By the afternoon, wind speeds will be around 15 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

The south winds will not lead to a big jump in temperature this time, with highs this afternoon close to where they have been. Look for temperatures to top out near or just under 75 degrees.

Clouds will increase further tonight and a few stray showers cannot be totally ruled out. South winds will persist, but will not be quite as blustery.

This will all add up to temperatures slowly retreating to the mid 60s this evening and low 60s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds with a morning few showers or thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs near 70.

Sunday: Sun and clouds, but dry. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Sun and a few clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
