The Village of Marathon’s annual Amnesty Day will be held this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the village office on 18 Tannery St. The event on Saturday is only for village residents.

Village mayor Scott Chamberlin noted at last week’s Board of Trustees meeting that the Department of Public Works will have a compactor on site at the village office.

It was also mentioned at last week’s meeting that curbside pickup will not be available on Saturday, but accommodations will be made for elderly village residents.

Village board member Ralph Canfield said some residents have started putting items at the end of their driveways. Chamberlain added that if those items aren’t moved, the residents will receive a call or a warning letter from the local code enforcement officer, noting residents are in violation of the village’s junk law.
