The second-seeded Homer Trojans took down seventh-seeded Oneida in the quarterfinal round of the Section III Class B Playoff Tournament Friday night with a score of 46-0 at Homer High School.

“It's the playoffs, so everyone brings their best game, and I thought we did a great job tonight.” said Homer head coach Gary Podsiedlik.

Homer’s points were scored by Sam Sorenson (2 rushing touchdowns & 1 receiving touchdown), Reid Partis (2 receiving touchdowns), Wyatt Wilbur (1 rushing touchdown, 1 interception return touchdown & 3 touchdown passes), and Laramy Velazquez-Ramires (4 extra point kicks made).

Homer’s defense was led by Reid Partis (2 interceptions & 2 tackles), Wyatt Wilbur (1 intersection & 3 tackles), Logan Darling (7 tackles), and Logan Stauber (8 tackles).

“We probably had the best week of practice emotionally and effort wise that we had all year, other than the first week of the preseason,” said coach Podsiedlik. “It paid off, because we were able to not let any kind of adversity bring us down. We didn’t give up any points, and we did a great job of coming together as a team.”

According to the New York State Sportswriter Association, Homer is also ranked No. 8 in the state for Class B.

When asked about how the team will prepare for their next opponent, coach Podsiedlik said, “We will go to work on film. We’re going to correct ourselves and learn from our game tonight. We will also study film from Camden, so that we can put a plan together, and come back to work on Monday.”
