A town of Taylor woman was arrested on Sunday after she falsified purchases at the Walmart in the town of Cortlandville, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

According to the report, Kristen French, 32, had “switched out pricing barcodes on items to a barcode of lesser value.”

French also stole items without paying for them, the report noted. The incident occurred in the presence of a child. French was also found to be in possession of drugs.

French was arrested and charged with first-degree falsifying business records (a Class-E Felony) – and petit larceny, endangering the welfare of a child and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (all Class-A Misdemeanors).

French was arraigned and released on one’s own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville town court at 11 a.m. Nov. 28.
