Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (December 9th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Friday’s events:

Varsity Girls Basketball: McGraw vs. Madison

The McGraw Lady Eagles fell to an 0-2 record after losing to Madison with a score of 23-40. 

McGraw was led by Hannah Wilson (12 points), Madison Sweeney (4 points), and Lexi McCall (4 points). 

Madison was led by Carmyn Parmon (17 points), McKenzie LaMunion (8 points), and Mackenzie Cotter (6 points). 

Up next, McGraw is scheduled to play Pulaski on the road this upcoming Monday (December 19th) at 6pm.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Marathon vs. Moravia

The Marathon Lady Olympians lost a tough game against Moravia with a score of 32-50 on the road Friday night. 

With this loss, Marathon has fallen to a 3-1 record. 

Marathon was led by Addison Oram (14 points) and Abigail Ensign (11 points). 

Moravia was led by Allison Kehoe (11 points) and Gabby Heim (10 points).

Marathon will now look forward to hosting Southern Cayuga on Tuesday (December 13th) at 7:15pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Cortland vs. Jamesville-Dewitt

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost 37-49 against Jamesville-Dewitt Friday night. 

With this loss, Cortland now holds a 2-1 record. 

Cortland was led by Valerosa Gambitta (12 points), Mallory Turner (7 points), and Kendall Mack (6 points). 

Jamesville-Dewitt was led by Macy Durkin (16 points), Sadie Withers (8 points), and Ava Sandroni (6 points). 

Cortland is scheduled to play Homer on the road this upcoming Monday (December 12th) at 6:45pm.

Marathon was led by Conor Holland (15 points), Braydin Drake (9 points), and Bryce Hartman (8 points).

Moravia was led by Abram Wasileski (29 points), Drew Nye (15 points), and Joe Baylor (11 points). 

Marathon will now play Southern Cayuga on the road this upcoming Tuesday (December 13th) at 7:15pm.

Varsity Boys Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Madison

The Cincinnatus Lions suffered a tough 57-93 loss against Madison on Friday. 

Cincinnatus was led by John Schuyler (27 points), Jack Stafford (16 points), and Canden Stafford (9 points).

Madison was led by Ethan Rivers (29 points), Jacob Burns (20 points), and Zach Leuenberger (11 points).  

This was Cincinnatus’ first game of the regular season. 

Up next, Cincinnatus will play DeRuyter at home on Monday (December 12th) at 7pm.

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost to Baldwinsville with a team score of 7-0 Friday evening.
