Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, January 9, 2023:

High pressure will retain control of the weather today.

A good deal of sunshine is expected today, though some clouds may be possible at times this morning. Sunshine should increase steadily, and the afternoon will be mostly sunny.

Winds will start from the northwest before turning more westerly by midday. West-southwest winds will be possible for the afternoon. 

Wind speeds will 5-10 mph during the morning and around 5 mph for the afternoon. Wind gusts will top out around 20 mph this morning.

Temperatures will work their way into the mid and upper 30s this afternoon. 

Tonight, a deck of clouds will quickly drop southeast into the region. A few flurries will also be possible but with no snow accumulation expected.

Winds will turn back to the northwest with speeds up to 10 mph as this small disturbance moves through.

Evening temperatures will drop back to or just below 30 degrees with overnight lows in the mid 20s.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. Maybe a flurry. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Wednesday: Plenty of clouds. Maybe a late flurry or rain shower. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Thursday: Snow showers early, turning to rain showers. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs around 40.

Friday: Rain over to snow. Morning temperatures around 40, dropping into the 30s during the afternoon.
