Tractor trailer rolls over in Cortland County (Photos Included)

A tractor trailer Tuesday morning rolled over at the corner of Willawanna Avenue and Route 41 in Cortland, according to a report from the Cincinnatus Fire Department.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, firefighters and an ambulance dispatched to the scene. The report stated that due to the extent of the single-vehicle accident, authorities closed the north and south directions of Route 41.

A representative from the Cincinnatus Fire Department noted the accident occurred due to the driver having medical issues. The driver was trapped in the truck, but it took first responders about 10-to-15 minutes to remove the driver.

The driver was taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Fire departments and other agencies were on scene for close to seven hours. According to the report, Route 41 reopened at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Cincinnatus Fire Department was assisted by the Willet and McGraw Fire Departments, New York State Police and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, Ron's Body & Paint Inc. for towing, Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District, the State Department of Environmental Conservation spill response team and representatives from Byrne Dairy.
