The second week of construction in the city of Cortland is underway, and multiple projects are listed for this week and beyond.

Construction on Main Street is the city’s continuation of its Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) projects. Cortland started working on those projects last year.

According to the Crown City Rising website, construction crews this week will be installing a new water main between West Court Street and Court Street. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing traffic.

Crews will also begin replacing underground utility vaults. The first vault being replaced will be at 2-8 Main St. This project, with sidewalk restrictions in place, will be ongoing and take place multiple weeks.

From Wednesday to Friday of this week, crews will remove trees along Main Street. Rolling parking restrictions will take place on the east and west sides of Main Street during this time. Those visiting the downtown area between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. should plan to park in city-owned parking lots.

City mayor Scott Steve is asking everyone to commute accordingly, follow detour directions and be mindful of construction workers.
