Varsity Softball: Marathon vs. Groton

The Marathon Lady Olympians lost a close outing against Groton with a score of 13-14.

With this loss, Marathon has fallen to an overall record of 4-6.

“Groton's catcher E. Allen hit 3 home runs off outside pitches that very few players could have found,” stated Marathon head coach Jamie Bush. “She kept her team in it behind the plate as well, not allowing the ball to get away, as Groton's pitchers could not find the strike zone.”

“We looked a little tired and slow today, and I think the six games last week caught up to us today,” added coach Bush. “Groton came to play and we had a slow start. Base running errors did not allow us to take a lead and cost us when we could have opened up the game in our favor. We are young and making rookie mistakes. Hopefully they learn from this loss, and grow as a team.”

Up next, Marathon will play on the road against Union Springs on Wednesday (April 26th) at 4:30pm.
