SUNY Cortland is encouraging students to inform family and friends attending the commencements this weekend to take alternate routes into the city, according to an email.

Due to the ongoing construction on Main Street in Cortland, the university is recommending families and friends to detour around the construction.

Those traveling through the city from the south are strongly encouraged to take Port Watson to Tompkins Street in order to arrive at the commencement ceremony on time.

The email noted that while there’s a recommendation to take alternate routes around the Main Street construction, SUNY Cortland is still encouraging visitors to take advantage of the downtown business area that is open and operating.

Street parking is limited on Main Street, but free parking in the city’s municipal lots are available to visitors. A breakdown of parking in the downtown area can be seen here.

The Crown City Rising website, along with its Facebook and Instagram, provides the latest construction updates.

SUNY Cortland’s graduate commencement ceremony is this Friday, and undergraduate commencements are Saturday. For more information on each of the university’s commencement ceremonies, click here.
