An area of low pressure will track across the Upper Great Lakes today. This will be a new weather system for our area, but the end results will be the same.

As the leading edge of influence from this low arrives this morning, a broken band of showers may skirt across the area.

Not all areas will see rain from this. Those that do should only expect a brief shower, though it could come down heard for a couple of minutes. A rumble of thunder is not ruled out, either.

Outside of these few morning showers, it should remain relatively quiet through the mid afternoon. Some sun will mix in with the clouds at times, and it will be warm and muggy.

Afternoon highs should be in the low 80s with soupy dewpoints in the mid and upper 60s.

This will set the stage for some scattered late afternoon and early evening thunderstorms.

There is more energy in the atmosphere for storms than in previous days, so lightning may be more frequent than it has been lately.

Locally heavy downpours will also be likely.

Most areas should see some rain this afternoon, but there may be a few locations that slip through with near misses.

The storms should wind down to sporadic showers overnight.

Evening temperatures will drop to the mid 60s with overnight lows in the low 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Showers and a few thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Wednesday: Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Thursday: Clouds, some sun, and a few more lingering showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. A small chance for a stray shower. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
