PRESS RELEASE
On July 6th, 2023, at approximately 7:02 AM, Officers of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a fatal motorcycle crash which occurred on Page Green Road near the intersection of Blodgett Mills Road located in the Town of Cortlandville. The operator of the motorcycle, who has been identified as Matthew R. Rayl, age 32, was traveling South on Page Green Road, when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a tractor, also traveling South on Page Green Road. Mr. Rayl was pronounced dead at the scene and was the only occupant. The operator of the tractor did not sustain any injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was TLC Ambulance Service, Ron’s Towing, Cortlandville Fire Department and the Cortland County Coroner’s Office.
