A complex weather set up is evolving today with multiple factors at play that could lead to locally heavy rainfall.

Showers and thundery downpours will be possible at any time today, morning, afternoon, or evening. That being said, the late morning through the afternoon will have the greatest potential for heavy rain.

Downpours will be capable of rainfall rates well over an inch per hour. The storm cells will also be slow moving at times, and multiple heavy cells could move repeatedly over the same areas.

In such cases, flash flooding would be a growing concern. Widespread flooding is not expected, but localized pockets of flooding are certainly possible.

There is also a very small chance for some strong thunderstorm winds or small hail, particularly in the afternoon hours.

Winds will be light, coming in mainly from the south and southeast with speeds under 5 mph.

With plenty of clouds and precipitation about, high temperatures will only reach the mid 70s this afternoon. Dewpoints will once again be high, coming in around 70 degrees.

Additional showers and possibly some thunder will be possible during the evening and overnight. While the risk for flooding will decrease, a few heavy downpours will not be out of the question.

Evening temperatures will drop to the mid 60swith overnight lows in the low 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Sun and clouds. A few lingering showers. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. A few afternoon showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with showers and storms likely. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
