Low pressure will slowly pull away from the area.

Cortland county will be situated right on the back edge of the influence from the low. As such, the chances for rain will gradually wind down as the low meanders off to the north-northeast.

There are two main possibilities for the way the day evolves.

If most of the rain showers move out this morning, that will allow for some daytime heating to set the stage for a few showers and storms this afternoon.

On the flip side, if the morning is rainier, then the afternoon will be less likely to have additional development.

A third, lesser possibility is that the low remains just far enough away to keep much of the day dry.

Most likely, it will be raining at some point, so be sure to check the latest radar if you have outdoor plans.

Northwest winds will blow throughout the day with speeds of 5-10 mph.

With plenty of clouds, highs will stick to the low and mid 70s. A little sun may finally work its way out late in the day.

It should remain dry overnight with gradually clearing skies. Temperatures will fall through the 60s in the evening and end up in the upper 50s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. A few afternoon showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.
