High pressure will slide to the east today as a strengthening low pressure system moves into the Midwest.

The net result of these two systems will be some occasional clouds and the development of an east-southeast wind today.

The wind will be light, with speeds around or under 5 mph for most of the day. After sunset, the wind speed will start to increase slightly, but will stay under 10 mph.

There will be some periods of sun, but also some periods of thin clouds. Fair weather clouds will also mix in, as well some light wildfire smoke, casting a slight haze over the skies.

No precipitation is expected during the daytime or evening hours. It will not be until well after midnight that some showers and thunderstorms will move into the area out ahead of the low pressure system.

Temperatures will be close to average for early August with highs near or slightly above 80 degrees. Dewpoints will be comfortable in the 50s.

Increasing clouds and wind speeds this evening will hold temperatures in the low and mid 60s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms, some possibly strong. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. A few showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
