There will be several chances for rain and thunderstorms today, some of which could turn strong.
A strengthening area of low pressure will track into the Great Lakes region today. A warm front will move through this morning, followed by the potential for additional waves of activity in the afternoon and evening.
Clouds and showers will accompany the warm front this morning. Most of the precipitation should be in the early to mid morning hours. Partial clearing should take place behind the rain.
How quickly and how fully skies clear will play a role in how the afternoon unfolds.
Showers and thunderstorms should develop over Pennsylvania and travel northeast into our region. And while conditions for severe weather will be greater over Pennsylvania, a few of these storms may still be strong as they rumble into our area.
Localized damaging winds and lightning will be the primary threats from any storms.
The best chance for thunderstorms appears to be between 3-9 PM. That is a wide window, but multiple rounds of storms will be possible during that timeframe.
Gradually the activity should wind down during the evening, though scattered showers and perhaps a rumble or two will be possible through the overnight.
Temperatures will mostly likely be held to the upper 70s this afternoon, but any extra sunshine could boost temperatures into the low 80s.
This evening, temperatures will stick to the mid 60s overnight.
South winds will blow around 10 mph with gusts to 25 mph throughout the day, independent of any storms.

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
