State Police identifies woman in fatal Cortland County crash

New York State Police have identified the woman involved in the fatal motorcycle crash on Interstate-81 in Cortland County over the weekend.

State police’s report noted that the victim of the crash was Janine T. Woodrome, 63, of Cortlandville. According to the report, Woodrome “suffered a medical event” before veering off the roadway and colliding with the guardrail.

The report noted that state police responded to the crash on I-81 in Cortlandville around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 26).

According to the preliminary investigation report, four motorcycles, one of them rode by Woodrome, were traveling northbound. Woodrome went off the roadway near mile-marker 51 (just north of Hoxie Gorge).

The report said that an AMR ambulance rendered emergency care of Woodrome on route to the hospital, but she “succumbed to her injuries.” No other injuries were reported.
