Cortland Purple Tigers fall to Solvay in regular season opener

The Cortland varsity boys soccer team played their first regular season game against Solvay at Cortland High School on Saturday. 

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost the game with a score of 1-5. 

It was a close game at first, with Cortland only down 1-3 at the end of the first half. However, Solvay would go on to score two additional second half goals to seal the game. 

Cortland was led by Caden Albright (1 goal), Cal Albright (1 assist), and Liam Burns (14 saves). 

Solvay was led by Arkadii Ososkalo (3 goals & 1 assist), Samuel Chipman (1 goal & 1 assist), Oleksandr Matyiuk (1 goal), Joshua Chipman (1 assist), and Redd Long (3 saves).

With this loss, Cortland started their season off with a 0-1 record. 

Purple Tigers are now scheduled to host Chittenango at Cortland High School this upcoming Wednesday (September 6th) at 7pm.
