A fully-involved fire burned down a barn in Cortland County on Tuesday, according to reports.

The McGraw Fire Department, along with multiple fire departments in the county, dispatched at 4:50 a.m. on Tuesday to the barn fire in the town of Solon.

According to McGraw deputy fire chief Andrew Harvey, the barn is a “total loss.” Harvey mentioned that most of the animals in the barn “were able to get out.” Further details beyond this report, including the cause of the fire, remain to be seen.

McGraw firefighters were assisted on scene by the Cincinnatus, Marathon, Homer and Truxton Fire Departments. Harvey noted as of the later-morning hours of Tuesday, crews were still on scene and overhauling, which means firefighters were checking the area to determine if any of the fire remains.

This is a developing story. The Cortland Voice will provide updates once they have been received.
