Man shoots rifle at individual (City Police)

A man reportedly shot a rifle at an individual.

The Cortland Police Department report stated that officers received an assault complaint at a residence on Winter Street.

According to the report, Chase Hopkins, 30, allegedly shot an airsoft rifle at a female victim. Hopkins then proceeded to allegedly head butt the victim and hit her in the face with the stock of the airsoft rifle, the report continued.

The female victim told police that Hopkins caused injuries to her face and teeth, the report stated.

Hopkins was arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a Class-D Felony), second-degree menacing (a Class-A Misdemeanor), second-degree assault (a Class-D Felony) and possession of a synthetic drug (a local law misdemeanor).

Hopkins was arraigned. He is due to appear in city court at a later date.
