The Cortland Purple Tigers lost 0-5 against Westhill on the road Tuesday night. With this loss, Cortland has fallen to an overall record of 2-3. 

Cortland goalkeeper Liam Burns recorded a total of 13 saves in the game. 

Note: Westhill’s stats were not made available by the time this article was written. 

Cortland is now scheduled to play a county rivalry game against Homer at Homer high school on Thursday (September 14th) at 7pm.

The Homer Trojans fell to an overall record of 2-2 after losing to Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) with a score of 8-1 on the road. 

Homer was led by Laramy Velasquez-Ramirez (1 goal), Cooper Van Dee (1 assist), Levi Guay (14 saves), and Oliver Kida (6 saves). 

CBA was led by Connor Morgia (2 goals & 2 assists), Zack Walma (2 goals), Sean Broschart (1 goal & 1 assist), Nick Genovese (1 goal), Xavier Kucera (1 goal), Grady Shanly (1 goal), Juliuz Pichardokmp (1 assist), Rico Petrosillo (1 assist), Caleb Buddie (1 assist), Will Kanerviko (1 assist), Ryan Petrie (1 assist & 3 saves), and Billy Assaf (4 saves). 

Up next, Homer is scheduled to host a county rivalry game against Cortland at Homer high school on Thursday (September 14th) at 7pm.

The Cortland Lady Tigers lost 0-6 against Westhill, making them fall to an overall record of 2-3 Tuesday evening. 

Westhill’s goals were scored by Elle Herrera (2 goals), Hannah Goodness (1 goal), Delaney Goode (2 goals), and Molly Dorfman (1 goal). 

Cortland goalkeeper Lauren Mott recorded 12 saves in the game, while Westhill goal keepers Taylor Falcone and Ava Antoine recorded 1 save each. 

Cortland’s next game will be played at Cortland high school against county rival Homer on Friday (September 15th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Girls Soccer: Marathon vs. Moravia

The Marathon Lady Olympians improved to a 4-2 record after beating Moravia with a score of 5-0 Tuesday evening. 

Marathon was led by Marissa Allen (2 goals & 1 assist), Abigail Ensign (2 goals), Kayla Wood (2 assists), Anna Hoyt (1 goal), Addison Oram (1 assist), and Kennedy Eaton (1 assist). 

Marathon will now play against Lansing at home today (Wednesday, September 13th) at 4:30pm.

The Homer Lady Trojans lost a close home game against Port Byron with a score of 0-1. With this loss, Homer fell to a 2-4 record. 

Homer goalie Aislynn Cobb made 2 saves in the game. 

Port Byron was led by Abby McKay (1 goal), Ella Jorgensen (1 assist), and Kate Ware (3 saves). 

The Lady Trojans will look to bounce back against Owego Apalachin at Homer high school this upcoming Friday (September 15th) at 5pm. 

Varsity Golf: Cortland vs. Christian Brothers Academy (CBA)

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost 252-193 against Christian Brothers Academy. (Reminder: lowest score in golf wins).

Varsity Cross Country: Marathon vs. Multiple Teams (Groton Dual)

The Marathon Olympians competed in the Groton Dual on Tuesday at Groton high school. Each race was 5,000 meters long. 

Here are some highlights from both Marathon boys’ and girls’ teams:

Marathon Boys

  • Andrew Edsall placed 2nd overall (Time - 17:43.6)
  • Zachary Birdsall finished 12th overall (Time - 19:45.4)
  • Blake Birdsall came in 18th place overall (Time - 21:03.8)
  • Luke Barnhart finished 35th overall (Time - 22:58.6)

Marathon Girls

  • Abigail Trabucco came in 6th place overall (Time - 24:35.3)
  • Larina Cochran placed 20th overall (Time - 30:04.8)
  • Hanna Prestigiacom finished 21st overall (Time - 30:34.7)
