Moisture from the remains of Tropical Storm Ophelia will try to push north into the region today, but dry air from high pressure over Canada will push back.

Cortland County will end up right on the very edge of the possible precipitation. As such, a few showers will be possible at any point today, but the further south in the county you are, the higher the chance of actually seeing those showers.

The rain showers will be most likely during the afternoon hours, when the moisture makes its furthest inroads into the region.

Some steadier light rain may even make it in for a time. However, this remains uncertain due to the extreme sensitivity our weather will have to the position, strength, and path of the remains of Ophelia and the high over Canada.

The chances for rain will dwindle in the early evening and skies may even clear out somewhat after midnight.

Winds will be from the east and northeast today with speeds of 5-10 mph.

The clouds, showers, and precipitation evaporating into dry air will all help keep temperatures low. Many areas will struggle or fail to even reach 60 degrees today.

Tonight, temperatures will be slow to drop, reaching the mid 50s during the evening. Lows may sneak into the upper 40s if skies clear somewhat overnight, otherwise they should stick to the low 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows around 50. Afternoon highs around 70.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Wednesday: Sunny with a few thin clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Thursday: Sunny with a few thin clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.
