A smoke detector installation program is being offered in the city of Cortland.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, Cortland deputy fire chief Derek Reynolds said the fire department received a grant to install smoke detectors in single-family homes in the city.

Reynolds noted that city residents can call the fire department at 607-756-5612 to schedule an appointment for smoke detector installation.

City residents can also contact the fire department if their smoke detector needs to be examined and potentially replaced.
