A cold front will slowly work its way into our region today with increasing chances for rain.

Clouds will be plentiful today as the front creeps eastward. A few showers will be possible through the morning hours, but much of the rain will be during the afternoon and evening hours.

The showers will become more numerous in the afternoon and should transition to steadier rain late in the day and for the nighttime hours. Embedded within the steadier rain will be some heavy downpours.

The rain should continue through the night and into at least early Saturday.

Winds will be out of the south with speeds near or slightly over 10 mph. Top gusts on the day will be around 25 mph. The wind will lessen during the night.

Afternoon highs will still above average, but not as warm as recent days. Look for highs near or slightly above 70 degrees.

Evening temperatures will stick to the low 60s, but expect a drop to the low and mid 50s by Saturday morning as the front moves overhead.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Periods of morning rain. Possibly a little sun late. Morning lows in the low 50s. Midday highs in the upper 50s.

Sunday: Breezy with frequent showers. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs around 50 degrees.

Monday: Clouds, some sun, and a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs around 50 degrees.

Tuesday: Clouds, some sun, and a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
