Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (October 7th)

The Homer Lady Trojans lost a close game against Cazenovia with a score of 0-1 at Homer high school on Saturday. With this loss, Homer has fallen to an overall record of 5-9. 

Homer goalkeeper Aislynn Cobb made 6 saves in the game. 

Cazenovia was led by Reid McMurtrie (1 goal) and Madison Rothfeld (2 saves). 

Homer is now scheduled to host Cato-Meridian on Wednesday (October 11th) at 7pm.

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cincinnatus vs. McGraw

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions defeated county rival McGraw for the second time this season on Saturday. Cincinnatus won the game with a score of 6-0. 

Cincinnatus was led by Cassia Schuyler (4 goals & 1 assist), Ava Larrabee (2 goals), Peyton Stith (1 assist), and Jocelyn Turshman (1 assist). 

Cincinnatus goalkeeper Sidney Glover made 7 saves in the game, while Heather Magee recorded 6 saves for McGraw. 

With this result, Cincinnatus improved to an overall record of 15-0-1, while McGraw fell to 4-11. 

Up next, Cincinnatus will play Oxford on the road on Tuesday (October 10th) at 4:30pm. McGraw is scheduled to host DeRuyter on Tuesday (October 10th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Boys Soccer: Cincinnatus vs. Greene

The Cincinnatus Lions lost 0-2 against Greene on the road, making them fall to an overall record of 9-5-1. 

Note: stats of the game were not made available by the time this article was written. 

Cincinnatus is now scheduled to host their last game of the regular season against Madison on Friday (October 13th) at the Cincinnatus Fireman’s Field. The game will kickoff at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Cross Country: Cortland, Homer & Cincinnatus vs. Multiple Teams (Tully Invitational)

The Cortland Purple Tigers, Homer Trojans, and Cincinnatus Lions competed in the 2023 Tully Invitational at Tully high school on Saturday. Each race was 3.1 miles long

A total of 135 runners competed in the boys’ race, while a total of 82 runners competed in the girls’ race.
