Multiple road closures have been announced for this week in the city of Cortland.

City’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) projects

According to Crown City Rising, Central Avenue (at Main Street) is closed today (Monday, Oct. 16) as construction crews begin relocating a gas main.

This work may extend into Tuesday (Oct. 17).

The various projects on Main Street are the city’s continuation of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). Cortland started working on projects last year.

For information or suggestions to alternative routes, go to the Crown City Rising website. A full layout of Cortland’s DRI projects can be seen here.

Groton Avenue Public Improvement project

Groton Avenue between Main Street and Monroe Heights will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday this week.

The closure of Groton Avenue during the day will allow crews to install sanitary sewer laterals.

People looking to access businesses on Groton Avenue should utilize Orchard Street or Pleasant Avenue to access the Groton Avenue parking lot. This includes those with appointments at the Family Health Pediatric Offices on Groton Ave.

All non-local traffic must utilize the signed detour routes and will not have access to areas within the active construction zone.
