Varsity Boys & Girls Soccer Sectional Playoff Seedings & Matchups Announced

The Section III and Section IV varsity boys and girls soccer seedings were announced over the weekend. 

Multiple teams in Cortland county qualified to participate in this year’s sectional playoffs. Below are their current matchups and seedings:

Boys Soccer

Cincinnatus & McGraw

The No.4 seed Cincinnatus Lions will host the No.13 seeded McGraw Eagles in the first round of the Section III Class D playoff tournament. 

Cincinnatus ended the regular season with a 10-5-1 record, while McGraw ended the regular season with an 8-6-1 record. 

The county rivalry game will be played at the Cincinnatus Fireman's Field on Wednesday (October 18th) at 3:30pm.

Marathon

The Marathon Olympians ended their regular season with an overall record of 13-1-1, making them the No.5 seed in the Section IV Class C playoff tournament. 

The No.5 seeded Olympians are scheduled to play No.12 seed Watkins Glen in the first round of the sectional tournament. 

The game will kickoff at Marathon high school on Tuesday (October 17th) at 3:30pm. 

The Olympians were also ranked 7th in the state for Class C, according to the latest state rankings.

Cortland

The No.11 seeded Cortland Purple Tigers will play No.6 seed Central Valley Academy in the first round of the Section III Class A tournament. 

The game will be played at Central Valley Academy high school on Tuesday (October 17th) at 7pm. 

Cortland ended the regular season with an overall record of 8-8.

Girls Soccer

Cincinnatus

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions got the No.1 seed of the Section III Class D tournament after ending the regular season with an unbeaten record of 15-0-1. 

According to the latest state rankings, Cincinnatus also ranks 7th in the state in Class D.

The top seeded Lady Lions will host No.16 seed Alexandria in the first round of the sectional tournament at the Cincinnatus Fireman's Field on Thursday (October 19th) at 3:30pm.

Cortland

The No.8 seeded Cortland Lady Tigers will host No.9 seed Vernon Verona Sherrill in the first round of the Section III Class A playoff tournament. 

Cortland will play their first sectional game at Cortland junior-senior high school on Tuesday (October 17th) at 6:30pm. 

Cortland ended the regular season with an overall record of 6-9-1.

Homer

The Homer Lady Trojans were seeded No.10 in the Section III Class A playoff tournament after ending their regular season with an overall record of 5-9-2.

Homer is scheduled to play in the first round of the sectional tournament against No.7 seed Chittenango at Chittenango high school this Tuesday (October 17th) at 6pm.

Marathon

The Marathon Lady Olympians were seeded at No.6 in the Section IV Class C sectional tournament after ending their regular season with an overall record of 9-5-1. 

Marathon is scheduled to host the first round of the tournament against No.11 seed Oxford at Marathon high school on Wednesday (October 18th) at 3:30pm.
