Today will be the sunniest and warmest day of the week as high pressure to our south gradually gives way to an approaching weather system from the west.

The sunniest parts of the day will be during the morning. Sunshine will mix with some thin clouds but should not be obstructed much. Gradually, through the afternoon, the clouds will increase and thicken, filtering the sunshine.

A steady south wind will blow at speeds around 10 mph. Wind gusts will be as high as 25 mph.

The south wind will team up with the sunshine to push temperatures upward. Afternoon highs should be between 60-65 degrees, with the warmest temperatures in the southern reaches of the county and the coolest temperatures in the northern hills.

Tonight, south winds will persist as clouds continue to thicken. This will hold temperatures up, with evening temperatures in the mid 50s and overnight lows around 50 degrees.

A few rain showers may begin to move in towards the predawn hours, but not all areas will see rain before the sun is up on Friday.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: More clouds than sun. An occasional rain shower. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Saturday: Periods of rain showers, especially in the afternoon. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Cool, breezy, and showery. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Monday: Sun and clouds, but still chilly. Morning frost with lows in the low and mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.
