Cincinnatus Lady Lions dominate Alexandria to book sectional quarterfinal spot

The top-seeded Cincinnatus Lady Lions won 6-0 against 16th-seed Alexandria in the opening round of the Section III Class D playoff tournament Thursday evening. 

According to the latest state rankings, Cincinnatus is ranked 6th in Class D.

Thursday’s game was played at the Fireman’s Field in Cincinnatus. 

The Lady Lions started things off firing from all cylinders, as they scored 3 goals before halftime. Cincinnatus controlled the field and ball possession for the majority of the game, and went on to score 3 additional second half goals to ultimately win the game. 

Cincinnatus ended up recording 28 shots, while holding Alexandria to 2 shots. 

The Lady Lions were led by Jocelyn Turshman (2 goals & 2 assists), Payton Landers (2 goals), Payton Gerrard (1 goal), Cassia Schuyler (1 goal), and Mandi Waltz (1 assist).

Cincinnatus goalkeeper Sidney Glover made 1 save in the game, while Alexandria goalie Callie Disbon recorded 11 saves.

With this win, Cincinnatus moves on to the quarterfinal round of sectional play. 

According to Section III, Cincinnatus will host their sectional quarterfinal game at the Fireman’s Field in Cincinnatus this Saturday (October 21st) against 9th-seed Sackets Harbor. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 11am.
