Varsity Football: Homer falls to Central Valley Academy in first round of sectionals

The 6th-seeded Homer Trojans lost 55-21 against 3rd-seed Central Valley Academy (CVA) in the first round of the Section III Class B playoff tournament. 

The game was played at CVA high school on Friday (October 27th) under the lights. 

It was a back and forth battle at first with Homer being up 14-13 by the second quarter’s 10th-minute mark, but CVA scored 21 straight points to have a 14-35 lead at halftime. 

CVA outscored the Trojans 20-7 in the second half.

According to the stats logged into Section III, Homer’s points were scored by Alexander Votra (2 rushing touchdowns), Wyatt Wilbur (1 touchdown pass & 1 two-point conversion), Jack Brady (1 touchdown reception), and Laramy Velasquez-Ramirez (1 extra point kick). 

CVA’s points were scored by Braden Moreau (4 touchdown passes, 1 rushing touchdown & 1 two-point conversion pass), Lincoln Lynch (1 touchdown reception, 1 two-point conversion & 3 extra point kicks), Xander Kenniston (2 rushing touchdowns), Deacon Judd (2 touchdown receptions), Thomas Jacquays (1 touchdown reception), & Landon LaFountain (1 rushing touchdown). (Note: CVA converted another two-point conversion, but the stat was not made available by the time this article was written).

With this loss, Homer ended its season with an overall record of 4-4.
