Schuyler reaches 100-goal milestone as Cincinnatus Lady Lions wins regional title (photos & interviews included)

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions won 2-0 against Edmeston/Morris in the regional round of the Class D state tournament at Nottingham High School on Saturday (November 4th). 

Cincinnatus entered the state tournament after being crowned section III champions, while Edmeston/Morris were crowned section IV champs. 

Not only did Cincinnatus win the game, but the team also celebrated junior captain Cassia Schuyler’s 100th career goal.

Schuyler's goal was scored with about 16 minutes left in the first half to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead before halftime. 

According to Cincinnatus head coach Lisa Sustad, Schuyler has been on the varsity soccer team since she was in 8th grade. 

When asked about how she felt about reaching this milestone, Schuyler said, “It was very exciting. It has been a childhood goal (that) I've always dreamed of reaching.”

After a dominating first half performance, Cincinnatus sealed off the shutout win with a goal scored by junior Mandi Waltz to make it 2-0.

Cincinnatus' dominating performance ended with a total of 20 shots and 9 corner kicks against Edmeston/Morris’ 6 shots and 2 corner kicks. 

Cincinnatus goalkeeper Sidney Glover recorded 3 saves in the game.

Cincinnatus will play in the state tournament’s semifinal against Section II champion Fort Ann. The game is scheduled to be played at Homer high school on Saturday (November 11th) at 2:30pm. (Note: the start time of the game is subject to change).
