An Amish buggy and a pickup truck were involved in an accident in Cortland County on Sunday morning, according to a report.

According to a report by the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MAVAC), the truck struck the rear wheel and back corner of the Amish buggy near the western intersection of Clarks Corners Road and Route 221 in the town of Lapeer.

The report noted that the buggy was carrying two adults and six children on their way to church services. The report continued by saying none of the individuals involved in the accident were seriously injured, adding that one of the children sustained minor cuts and abrasions.

According to the report, the impact of the crash caused the buggy to turn on its side. The buggy was dragged an additional 100 feet down the roadway before the horse pulling it could be stopped. The horse was not injured, the report noted.

MAVAC transported the Amish family back to its home in the town of Harford. The Marathon Fire Department provided traffic control at the scene, and firefighters helped load the damaged buggy into a trailer and back to the family’s farm, the report noted.
