County Sheriff’s Blotter: Assault, burglary and more

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office recently released arrest reports that include charges of assault, burglary, false personation and more.

Below are the reports:

Shelana L. Cooney

Cooney, 26 of the village of McGraw, was arrested on Tuesday (Dec. 5).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Cooney engaged in a “physical altercation” with another individual.

Cooney was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal mischief (all Class-A Misdemeanors), and second-degree harassment (a violation).

Cooney arraigned, processed and released. She is due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Dec. 18.

Erica L. Allen

Allen, 41 of Cortlandville, was arrested on Monday (Dec. 4).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Allen stole a package from the Stevens Manor apartment complex in Cortlandville. Allen was arrested at Walmart later that afternoon, a location where she previously received a trespass notice for stealing items from the store.

Allen was charged with third-degree burglary (a Class-D Felony), petit larceny (a Class-A Misdemeanor) and three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Allen was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Dec. 13.

Seth M. Weigand

Weigand, 27 of Cortland, was arrested on Monday (Dec. 4).

The county sheriff’s report stated that following a trespass complaint on Route 11 in Cortlandville, Weigand provided “false pedigree information” regarding his identity.

Officers discovered Weigand’s true identity. He was charged with false personation, a Class-B Misdemeanor. Weigand was processed, issued an appearance ticket and is now due to appear in court on Dec. 11.

Andrew F. Sanford

Sanford, 30 of Homer, was arrested on Saturday (Dec. 2).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Sanford entered the Walmart store in Cortlandville and violated a trespass notice that was previously issued.

Sanford was charged with trespassing, a violation. He was processed, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Dec. 18.
