Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (December 8th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Friday’s events:

Varsity Girls Volleyball: Cincinnatus vs. Manlius Pebble Hill (MPH)

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions lost a match-up against Manlius Pebble Hill (MPH) in five sets. The match was played at Manlius Pebble Hill high school. 

Cincinnatus was led by Allyson St. Germain (14 kills & 3 blocks), Payton Gerrard (6 kills & 6 digs), and Kaedance Latta (14 assists, 3 kills, 6 digs & 1 block).

Note: MPH’s stats were not made available by the time this article was written. 

With this loss, Cincinnatus has fallen to a 2-1 overall record.

Up next, Cincinnatus will look forward to playing their county rival McGraw at McGraw high school on Monday (December 11th) at 7pm.

Varsity Boys Basketball: Homer vs. Syracuse Academy of Science

The Homer Trojans fell to a 1-1 record after losing to Syracuse Academy of Science with a score of 34-57. 

Homer was led by Wyatt Wilbur (15 points) and Max Franco (12 points). 

Syracuse Academy of Science was led by Andre Pasha (26 points) and Josiha Johnson (12 points). 

Homer’s next game will be played on the road against Chittenango on Friday (October 15th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Boys Basketball: McGraw vs. DeRuyter

The McGraw Eagles lost 52-67 against DeRuyter at DeRuyter high school Friday night. With this loss, McGraw has fallen to an overall record of 1-1. 

McGraw was led by Dylan Truman (18 points), Caleb Epp (16 points), and Calob Sutton (8 points). 

DeRuyter was led by Devens Whalen (20 points), Wesley Pforter (18 points), and Daniel Holl (10 points). 

The Eagles are scheduled to get back on the road this upcoming Tuesday (December 12th) as they take on Madison at 7pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: McGraw vs. Stockbridge Valley

The McGraw Lady Eagles lost against Stockbridge Valley with a score of 27-34 at McGraw high school. 

McGraw was led by Lexi McCall (10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals & 1 block), Hannah Wilson (8 points, 10 rebounds & 1 steal), and Leah Terwilliger (6 points, 4 rebounds & 7 steals). 

Stockbridge Valley was led by Karalynne Carmon (11 points) and Sophia Stevens (7 points). 

With this loss, McGraw has fallen to an overall record of 0-2. 

Up next, McGraw will play on the road against Tully today (December 9th) at 1pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Madison

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions fell to a 1-4 record after losing to Madison with a score of 23-36 at Madison high school Friday evening. 

Cincinnatus was led by Cortney Scutt (15 points), Rachael Standish (4 points), and Sidney Glover (4 points). 

Madison was led by Camryn Parmon (12 points), Lauren Zehr (10 points), and Mackenzie Cotter (8 points). 

Cincinnatus’ next game will be played on the road against county rival McGraw at McGraw high school on Tuesday (December 12th) at 6pm.
