A man was arrested over the weekend after he assaulted an individual and violated multiple orders of protection, according to a report.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s report stated that Christopher J. Fox, 32 of the town of Freetown, had “engaged in a physical dispute” with an individual. The victim was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center to treat minor injuries.

According to the report, Fox violated multiple stay-away orders of protection while being in the presence of the subjects. Fox also destroyed a cell phone that belonged to the victim, the report continued.

The report also noted that a firearm was located inside the residence, which also violated the order of protection. The firearm was found to be “unsecured and not properly stored” in the residence, the report added.

Fox was arrested on Saturday evening and charged with first-degree criminal contempt (a Class-E Felony), three counts of second-degree criminal contempt, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child (all Class-A Misdemeanors), and second-degree harassment and second-degree failure to safely store rifles, shotguns and firearms (both violations).

Fox was arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail. He is currently being held on a $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. Fox is scheduled to appear in Freetown town court on Dec. 27.
