A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for today as moisture wrapping around the backside of low pressure will continue to produce snowfall across the area.

Steady snow is likely through the morning and much of the afternoon hours today. The snow will be heaviest through the morning, with a gradual reduction in snowfall rates this afternoon.

Road conditions will be snowy early on today but will improve as the morning goes on thanks to warming temperatures and slowing snowfall rates.

By the afternoon, main treated roadways should be in decent shape.

Temperatures will rise to near or slightly above freezing during the midday and afternoon hours. It probably will not reach 35 degrees, though.

Tonight, widespread snow tapers to some lake effect snow showers.

In all, another 2-4 inches will fall during the daytime and evening hours today.

Winds will be light most of the day but will turn to the northwest and pick up slightly this afternoon and evening. A few gusts over 20 mph will be possible, resulting in some minor blowing and drifting.

Nighttime temperatures will slowly drop into the 20s with an overnight low in the mid 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Monday: Mostly cloudy. Maybe a few early flurries. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Tuesday: Cloudy. Rain arriving late, possibly mixing with some snow early. Becoming very windy during the evening. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon temperatures in the upper 30s with nighttime temperatures rising into the mid 40s.

Wednesday: Periods of rain early, especially early in the day. Morning temperatures in the low 40s. Afternoon temperatures falling into the upper 30s.

Thursday: Clouds, some sun, and perhaps a few rain or snow showers. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
