The City of Cortland Police Department recently seized methamphetamine and cocaine worth thousands of dollars from an individual, according to a report.

The city police report stated that officers conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street, with Carmen A. Salva, of Syracuse, as one of the passengers.

According to the report, Salva was in possession of a “large quantity” of meth and cocaine. Officers also found scales and packaging material in Salva’s possession.

The street value of the drugs is approximately $7,000, the report noted.

Salva was arrested on Sunday (Jan. 7) and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell drugs and drug weight (Both Class-B Felonies), and criminal use of drug paraphernalia for scales and packaging material (Both Class-A Misdemeanors). The driver of the vehicle was ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation.

Salva was arraigned, released and is now due to appear in city court on Jan. 24.
