Man steals merchandise from local convenience store (County Sheriff)

A man was arrested on Monday after he stole merchandise from a local convenience store, according to a report.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s report stated that Michael P. Ahearn, 37 and listed as homeless, stole merchandise from the Kinney Drugs store on Route 281 in Cortlandville before fleeing the scene.

According to the report, Ahearn provided false identification to officers. It was also discovered that Ahearn had multiple warrants out of the county sheriff’s office and the city police department. The report noted that Ahearn was in possession of drugs, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Ahearn was charged with petit larceny, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and false personation.

Ahearn was arraigned and released. He is due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Jan. 29.
