County Sheriff’s Blotter: Unlawful imprisonment, criminal contempt, DWI and more

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office released a handful of arrest reports over the weekend and on Monday.

Here are the reports:

Michael R. Maricle and Nelson A. Maricle

Michael Maricle, 25, and Nelson Maricle, 26, both of the town of Freetown, were both arrested during the early-morning hours of Saturday (Jan. 20).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Michael Maricle violated an order of protection by calling the victim, where he “made verbal threats.” The report continued by saying Nelson Maricle violated an order of protection by going to a residence in Freetown where an order was issued.

Michael Maricle was charged with first-degree criminal contempt (a Class-E Felony) and second-degree aggravated harassment (a Class-A Misdemeanor). He was sent to Cortland County Jail without bail.

Nelson Maricle was charged with second-degree criminal contempt (a Class-A Misdemeanor). He was released and now due to appear in Freetown town court (with Michael Maricle) on Wednesday (Jan. 22).

Michael J. Eaton

Eaton, 43 of the village of McGraw, was arrested on Wednesday (Jan. 17).

The county sheriff’s report stated that officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the village. According to the report, Eaton “engaged in a physical altercation” with a minor under 17 years of age.

Eaton was charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child (both Class-A Misdemeanors). He was arraigned, released and now due to appear in court at a later date.

Matthew R. Davis

Davis, 35 of Middleburg, Va., was arrested on Saturday (Jan. 20).

The county sheriff’s report stated that officers responded to a complaint of Davis being “unable to maintain (his) lane” in his vehicle on Interstate-81 southbound. Officers observed the I-81’s town of Homer exit and noticed Davis “traveling off the highway” and “into the center median.”

According to the report, Davis was driving while intoxicated. Along with his DWI charge (a Class-A Misdemeanor), Davis was also charged with moving from a lane unsafely, failure to use designated lane, speed not reasonable and prudent, an unsafe u-turn and for the refusal of a breathalyzer test (all violations).

Davis was processed, arraigned, released and now due to appear in Homer town court on Feb. 6.

Dixie R. Sallis

Sallis, 41 and listed as homeless, was arrested on Wednesday (Jan. 17).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Sallis had an active warrant out for her arrest. When she was taken into custody, she was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Sallis was released and issued appearance tickets for Cortlandville town court on Feb. 5.

Patrick J. Ready

Ready, 18 of Staten Island, was arrested Sunday evening (Jan. 21).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Ready stole merchandise from the Walmart store in Cortlandville before fleeing the scene. Ready was located and charged with petit larceny – a misdemeanor.

Ready was processed, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Feb. 5.

Dylan A. Collins

Collins, 20 of the village of Hagaman, was arrested on Sunday (Jan. 21).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Collins stole merchandise from the Walmart store in Cortlandville. Collins was charged with petit larceny (a misdemeanor). He was processed, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Feb. 5.
