Mild air will eventually win out today against the cold, leading to mostly just rain falling today.

The one exception will be early this morning, when a few pockets of freezing drizzle may hang on for a while. These should not cause anything more than a few slick spots on untreated surfaces.

Drizzle through the morning will eventually transition over to steadier rain during the afternoon. The steadier rain should move in between noon and 2 PM and will persist into the evening.

During the latter half of the evening, steady rain will taper to a few showers and drizzle. Areas of fog will also be possible and may be thick in places into early Thursday morning.

Temperatures will slowly creep upward today, reaching the mid 30s by midday and the upper 30s late in the afternoon.

After remaining steady for a couple hours after sunset, temperatures will increase again during the evening, reaching 40 degrees by midnight then mostly holding steady overnight.

South winds will blow today with speeds of 5-10 mph. Top gusts will be near or under 20 mph. The highest winds will be over the northern hilltops.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Cloudy with afternoon rain showers. Morning lows near 40 degrees. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Friday: Cloudy with rain showers, mostly in the morning. Maybe a peek of afternoon sun. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with rain chances increasing late. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Sunday: Precipitation likely, but type uncertain at this time. Accumulating snow is a possibility. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.
