After 41 years, longtime Homer football coach Gary Podsiedlik has decided to retire and turn the Homer football program onto the next generation.

Out of his 41 years coaching the Homer football program, 34 of those years Podsiedlik has served as the head coach.

Coach Podsiedlik started his career as a teacher and assistant coach of the Homer football team in 1983 after getting a degree at SUNY Cortland. He then went on to take the head coaching job from the 1990 season until now (2023-24).

Even though he retired from teaching in 2017, Podsiedlik kept on coaching the Homer Trojans.

Coach Podsiedlik has now ended his high school football coaching career with a 183-108 record, along with multiple sectional titles.

He was part of the Homer Football coaching staff for all seven of the Trojans’ sectional titles, and he was the head coach for five of those title years.
